It was April 21 when I received my first payment from a user, marking a significant milestone for my project. While the financial aspect—equating to a one-time annual subscription of $150—was certainly appreciated, the real value for me lay in the affirmation that my efforts could yield tangible results. It felt like a pivotal moment that suggested my idea had potential.

The inception of this project dates back to 2019, after which I had to pause my efforts in 2020. I reignited my passion for it in March 2025, leading to a formal launch on September 1. Remarkably, it took just a short span of time before my first user engaged with the platform on September 14.

Reflecting on the growth trajectory since that launch, I was struck by how long my journey seemed to stagnate. Initially, user sign-ups trickled in at a slow rate, leaving me with mixed feelings and doubts about the project’s viability. For several months, it felt like I was treading water without anything truly significant happening. Despite persistent efforts, there were no discernible trends indicating that my work would lead anywhere substantial, leading to moments of second-guessing.

However, after months of patient perseverance, something began to shift. I noticed an increase in user retention, and crucially, I received my first paid subscription. This transition, though subtle, was a transformative point in my journey.

Looking back, it’s clear that while the current growth charts might suggest a steady upward trend, the reality of that time was filled with uncertainty and incremental progress that can be difficult to perceive amidst the daily grind of building a business. The experience has highlighted the often-misleading nature of growth metrics when you’re entrenched in the journey, as the true value lies not only in the end results but also in the lessons learned along the way.
