Introducing Pebble: An AI Learning App for Kids
In today’s digital age, parents are acutely aware of the impact social media and various online platforms can have on our children. As fathers of kids aged 6 to 12, we have observed firsthand how these technologies can lead to negative influences—captivating young minds with endless distractions and potentially harmful content. With this awareness, we felt compelled to create a safe, engaging, and productive alternative for our children.
Our vision is to harness the potential of artificial intelligence to foster positive learning experiences rather than replicate the pitfalls of social media. We recognized the gap in the market for child-friendly AI tools and decided to take action. Our goal was to design an app that we wished existed for our own kids, particularly our daughter Juno, who is 8 years old. Instead of allowing her to navigate the broader landscape of AI tools that may not be suited for children, we wanted to offer her a safe learning companion.
Reflecting on my own childhood experiences, particularly playing educational games in the 90s, I realized there’s a remarkable opportunity to revive that edutainment spirit. We envision creating a platform filled with engaging content that utilizes the Socratic method to spark curiosity and critical thinking. This approach will be especially effective as advancements in AI, such as World Models, open new possibilities for interactive learning.
After six months of dedicated work and numerous late nights, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Pebble—a learning companion that transforms educational experiences into exciting adventures. Over the past four weeks, we have conducted a closed alpha with 100 families, and the feedback has been invaluable.
Now, we are excited to invite 100 more founding families to join us in this journey. If you have children aged 6 to 12 and are interested in an enjoyable and educational experience for your kids, we encourage you to participate in our beta test. Signing up through the link below will grant you access to the app this evening, and as a token of appreciation, you will receive four months of Pebble for free once we begin monetizing—an offer valued at $100.
We believe that parental feedback is crucial as we strive to create a product that truly meets the needs of both kids and parents. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out. Your insights would be immensely helpful as we continue to refine Pebble. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help shape the future of educational technology for our children!

This initiative highlights a critical need in today’s digital landscape—creating safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate AI tools for children. By integrating the Socratic method, Pebble not only promotes curiosity and critical thinking but also aligns well with research suggesting that interactive, question-based learning can significantly enhance cognitive development in kids.
Moreover, leveraging advancements like World Models in AI can lead to more personalized and adaptive educational experiences, tailoring content to individual learning paces and interests. It’s encouraging to see developers aiming for transparency and parental involvement, which are essential for fostering trust and ensuring the app’s alignment with educational and safety standards.
In the broader context, responsibly designed AI educational tools like Pebble have the potential to complement traditional learning, nurture intrinsic motivation, and counteract the passive consumption often seen with social media. As these technologies evolve, ongoing research into their impact—such as fostering creativity, emotional intelligence, and critical media literacy—will be vital. Wishing you success in refining Pebble and contributing to a safer, more enriching digital environment for children.
