At 27F, I Founded a Marketing Agency that Earned Around 500k AED—Partner Dispute Led to a Team Breakup, and Now I’m Managing It Solo and Feeling Uncertain About the Next Steps

Navigating Entrepreneurship During Challenging Times: My Journey of Resilience and Reflection

Starting a business is an exciting venture filled with opportunities and hurdles alike. My journey began two years ago when I launched a marketing agency alongside two partners. The initial months were slow-paced, but by the six-month mark, we secured about six to seven clients, generating approximately 400,000 to 500,000 AED in revenue—a significant milestone that fueled our confidence and momentum.

However, as with many entrepreneurial endeavors, unforeseen challenges arose. Tensions within the partnership, which also involved a personal relationship, led to a breakdown. During this period, a substantial portion of the company’s income and profits were diverted, leaving me to shoulder the ongoing expenses such as taxes, VAT, and operational costs. The partner ultimately departed to start a separate venture using a more affordable license, bringing along previous team members and key clients from our original business.

Since then, I have been operating the agency solo, managing everything from client relations and social media execution to administrative and operational tasks. The most difficult aspect of this experience has not been the workload itself but the sense of isolation. Limited financial resources prevent me from rebuilding a larger team, and the responsibility of filling multiple roles has led to considerable burnout over the past year.

Currently, I find myself at a crossroads and considering my next steps. My options include:

  • Persisting with efforts to gradually rebuild and grow the agency

  • Taking a temporary job to regain stability, re-establish a structured work environment, and collaborate with a team again

This experience has led me to seek insights from others who have faced similar challenges—partnership conflicts, burnout, or rebuilding after setbacks. If you have navigated a comparable situation, I would appreciate learning about your journey and the choices you made.

Navigating entrepreneurship requires resilience and adaptability. Whatever path I choose, I remain committed to learning, growing, and building a sustainable business that aligns with my vision and values.
