Minimal Variance Across Regions

The analysis revealed that the prevalence and presentation of AI answer boxes are remarkably consistent regardless of location. The rate at which AIOs appear varies by less than 1% between cities, with Houston exhibiting the highest trigger rate at approximately 28.66%, and New York the lowest at 27.75%. Such negligible difference underscores that geographic location is not a significant determinant of AIO occurrence.

Source Citations and Content Structure Are Uniform

On average, AI Overviews cite around 13 sources per answer, with minimal fluctuation across regions—Los Angeles averages approximately 13.41 sources, while New York averages 13.28. The length of AI responses also remains generally stable, differing by only about 12.6 characters or roughly 2.38 words between cities.

Furthermore, the number of links within AIOs typically ranges from six to fourteen, with the most common deployment featuring eight to ten links. This consistency suggests Google adopts a standardized format based predominantly on the content topic rather than geographic factors.

Local Sources and Geographic Personalization Are Rarely Cited
