Enhancing Community Focus: New Policies on Market Research Posts in Our Subreddit
At our community, maintaining a focused and valuable discussion environment is a top priority. Recently, we’ve observed an increasing number of market research-related postsΓÇöparticularly those asking about small business pain points, challenges, or seeking product feedbackΓÇöthat tend to clutter the conversation and detract from genuine inquiries.
In response, we are implementing a clarified policy to better serve our members and promote meaningful dialogue. This update aims to reduce the prevalence of what has become an oversaturation of repetitive or promotional research requests, which often obscure authentic discussions about small business concerns.
Why the Change?
Historically, we have moderated “pain points” or market research posts under certain conditions. However, the volume and nature of these posts have grown significantly, leading to issues such as:
- Unproductive noise that hampers the visibility of authentic questions.
- The exploitation of our subscriber base as an unpaid market research resource.
- The ease of deploying AI-generated wrappers or vibe-coding apps to bypass existing rules.
This pattern not only diminishes the quality of discourse but also makes it easier for individuals to gather broad insights from our community rather than engaging directly or legitimately seeking information.
New Policy Guidelines
-
Restrictions on Small Business Research Posts:
Posts soliciting feedback on small business challenges, app usefulness, competitive offerings, or similar topics will generally be removed unless they originate from verified academic sources adhering to specific research standards. -
Acceptable Engagement via Comments:
Instead of posting standalone research questions, such inquiries are permitted solely as comments within our designated sticky posts. Should these comment-based research questions generate significant engagement, we may establish a dedicated sticky thread to facilitate coherent discussion. -
Questions Remain the Core Focus:
The primary purpose of this community is to encourage genuine questions from members. Moderators may occasionally allow non-question posts for important announcements or critical events, ensuring the community remains well-informed. -
Promotion and Spam Policies:
Direct or indirect promotional contentΓÇöwhether authored by humans or AIΓÇöwill be removed. This includes attempts to promote products, services, or companies. While AI-assisted translation may be acceptable, low-quality AI-generated content that does not add value will be subject to removal.
Community Security Measures
To combat spam and malicious activities, we’ve implemented several anti-spam honeypot posts. These high-traffic, attractive posts are monitored continuously. When spam comments are detected,

Thank you for transparently sharing these updates. I believe refining the focus of community discussions is crucial for maintaining quality and fostering genuine engagement. The restriction on market research posts, especially those that could be exploited via AI or promotional tactics, helps ensure that members can find valuable, authentic insights.
Encouraging research questions to be posted as comments within designated threads is a smart move—it promotes contextual conversations and prevents clutter. Additionally, establishing clear standards around promotion and spam will likely enhance trust and safety within the community.
Looking ahead, it might also be beneficial to periodically review the effectiveness of these policies and possibly introduce dedicated Q&A sessions or webinars on small business challenges. This could provide a constructive outlet for research inquiries while preserving the community’s core purpose of question-driven dialogue. Great initiative—thanks for prioritizing a thoughtful and well-managed environment!
