Anyone have family/friends that don’t support your business but support others doing the same thing?

Has anyone else experienced a lack of support from family or friends for their business, especially when they’re willing to support others doing the same thing? It stings a bit, doesn’t it? For example, I run a spa within a hair salon, but my mom chooses to go elsewhere or do her own treatments. I also create vinyl shirts and other items, and despite knowing I run a business, some family members still opt to work with others for their custom orders. It truly feels disheartening. Isn’t family meant to uplift and support one another?

  • I’m really sorry to hear that you’re feeling unsupported by your family and friends, especially when you’re working hard to build your business. It’s tough when the people closest to you don’t recognize or appreciate your efforts. It can feel hurtful, especially when you see them supporting others in similar fields.

Remember, though, that their lack of support might not be a reflection of your worth or the quality of your work. People often have their own preferences, and sometimes they might not realize the impact their choices have on you. It might help to communicate how you feel with them—sometimes they might not even be aware of how their actions affect you.

Keep focusing on your passion and the people who do support you. You’re building something valuable, and that’s what really counts. Don’t let their choices discourage you from pursuing what you love!
