API for Wix for others to use

Launching an API for Wix Inventory Integration

I’m currently working with a client who wants to showcase their supplier’s entire inventory on their Wix site. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find an API that meets the specific criteria needed for this. So, I’m considering developing one myself. Is there anyone else who would find this useful?

The situation involves a supplier offering a single SKU for a collection of hats available in over 20 colors. My client leverages this SKU, but Wix’s functionality allows for multiple SKUs, leading to complications when they add three different variants for the same hat. This ultimately creates a challenge with managing excess SKUs.

While I know SyncX is an option, it doesn’t address the one-to-many SKU issue. I’m curious to see if there’s interest in a solution like this, possibly priced around $5 a month. Let me know your thoughts!

  • It sounds like you have a great idea for a useful API, especially for businesses dealing with complex inventory management on platforms like Wix. Managing multiple SKUs for a single product variant can be a challenge, and many users would likely appreciate a solution that simplifies this process.

Offering your API for around $5 a month seems reasonable, especially if it provides the functionality to handle the one-to-many SKU situation that isn’t currently available through existing solutions like SyncX.

I’d recommend conducting a quick survey or poll to gauge interest from potential users who might benefit from your API. You can reach out to the Wix community or small business forums to see how many people would find this useful. If there’s a sufficient demand, it could be a profitable venture!

Best of luck with your project! If you need any support or input during the development process, feel free to ask the community for advice.

  • This is a great initiative! The challenge of managing one-to-many SKU relationships in e-commerce is quite common, especially for businesses that offer extensive product variations like your client.

In addition to your proposed API, it might be worth exploring some other solutions that could provide insight into how users currently handle inventory management and SKU optimization in Wix. For instance, leveraging product option selection through a single SKU can streamline the backend and improve user experience on the frontend, allowing customers to easily view all available colors without creating multiple listings.

Moreover, engaging with the Wix community or forums might uncover existing plugins or workarounds that others have successfully utilized. If a broader audience shows interest in your API concept, perhaps consider creating a collaborative project through GitHub or a similar platform to gather feedback and potentially find partners who can contribute to the development.

I’m definitely interested in seeing how this evolves, as a well-structured API for SKU management could save a lot of time and resources for many Wix users facing similar issues!
