Finding Energy Beyond the Small Business Grind

Running a small business is no easy feat, especially when it’s just a two-person operation. For those of us involved in this bustling world, the grind can often feel relentless. I typically manage my shop five days a week, dedicating two evenings and a weekend day to handle the necessary paperwork. On top of that, weekends often include a few hours of customer work, particularly if any equipment breaks down. By the end of the day, the exhaustion can be overwhelming – there are times I’m so fatigued that preparing dinner feels like climbing a mountain.

Currently, I’m also juggling a personal project: building a boat in my garage to support my business. Tonight, I’ve got to allocate an hour to glue some parts together, and I’m really struggling to muster the motivation. Honestly, I’m not sure where to find the energy anymore.

In a bid to keep myself productive, I’ve even kept my work boots on as a mental cue; removing them signifies the end of my day. But tonight, that strategy isn’t quite pulling through – fatigue is winning.
