For the first eight years of my professional journey, I thrived in a small company with a workforce of approximately 200 individuals. The structure was notably flat, with only three levels: CEO, management, and junior staff. This environment fostered collaboration and transparency, where senior team members were directly accessible for guidance. It was refreshing to contribute to a culture focused on teamwork, support, and shared success.

The Shift to Corporate Culture

However, my recent foray into a large corporate entity shattered this idealized vision. My experience was riddled with frustrations that seemed to resonate with others in similar situations. I frequently encountered a toxic atmosphere characterized by gossip, manipulation, and a lack of accountability. Rather than fostering collaborative efforts, I witnessed colleagues engaging in a ‘telephone game,’ where messages were distorted and often weaponized against one another. It felt as though individuals were more invested in undermining their teammates than in achieving collective goals.
