As a consultant for small business owners, I often find myself in a unique position that sometimes feels more akin to that of a therapist than a strategist. My clients frequently approach me with the desire to elevate their Instagram presence, seeking increased engagement, enhanced reach, and genuine growth. I genuinely enjoy these sessions, especially when I see clients taking initiative and implementing meaningful changes based on our discussions. For those who do, the results can be transformative.

However, it’s disappointing to notice that many clients leave our consultations without making any significant adjustments to their strategies. Despite our in-depth conversations that cover essential aspects like brand clarity, messaging tactics, content organization, bio optimizations, and audience engagement, some seem to use our time together merely as a sounding board for their frustrations.

This situation leaves me pondering: what motivates these business owners to pay for expert insights only to disregard the advice offered?

Perhaps I’m wired differently, but I firmly believe that if I were running a business, I would be proactive and fully invested in understanding my customer base—the very source of revenue. It raises the question of why someone would seek assistance only to fail to act on it, especially when they express a genuine desire for growth.
