As I approach my 16th birthday in just two months, I find myself at a crossroads in my entrepreneurial journey. My mother has been a pillar of support in my attempts to start a small business, particularly in crafting handcrafted jewelry like bracelets and necklaces. However, my initial ventures have yielded limited sales, leading to a net loss rather than a profit. This has sparked hesitation about my next steps and, understandably, my mom has become cautious about allowing me to purchase new materials for my business.
While I appreciate her concern, I see this not just as a way to make some income, but as an opportunity to engage creatively and learn valuable skills along the way. I have exciting new ideas that extend beyond jewelry-making, and I believe there’s potential for growth. Unfortunately, without a budget for supplies, I feel stifled in my efforts to take my business to the next level.
What I’m looking for isn’t a strategy to persuade my mother to fund my materials but rather advice on how I can demonstrate to her that a new approach could significantly increase my chances of success. I completely understand her worries; after all, it’s her support that has allowed me to explore my creativity. Yet, I’d like her to see the bigger picture: that this project is more than just a hobby for me—it’s a learning experience that could cultivate entrepreneurial skills.
