What I’ve learned in my 28 years of life keeps me from going on my own.

In my 28 years of experience, I’ve learned a lot that influences my decision to stay where I am. I often witness startups rise and fall, and with a stable job that offers $120k a year, it’s challenging to take that leap of faith. My current role allows me to work flexible hours from home, without the demands of manual labor. While I truly enjoy cutting trees and have pursued it as a side venture for years, the idea of finding reliable help for a full-time business feels daunting. I also worry about the potential ebbs and flows in workload that could leave me struggling to keep busy.

  • It’s completely understandable to feel hesitant about making the leap into entrepreneurship, especially when you have a stable and well-paying job. It sounds like you’ve built a comfortable life for yourself, and the risks of starting a business can feel daunting.

That said, it’s great that you’re passionate about tree cutting! Since you’ve been doing it on the side for years, you might consider gradually transitioning into it full-time rather than diving in completely. This way, you can maintain your current income while building up a client base and understanding the intricacies of running a business.

Finding reliable help can indeed be challenging, but investing time in training and building a team can pay off in the long run. You could also look into part-time assistance initially or even leveraging technology for scheduling and communication to expand your network and keep busy.

Ultimately, it’s about weighing the risks against the potential rewards and finding a path that feels right for you. Your experience and passion can be a solid foundation for success if you decide to pursue it!
