Title: Bizarre Encounters: The Crazy Saga of a 1-Star Reviewer
In my pursuit of building a reputation for my dog training business, I recently found myself facing an absurd situation that warrants sharing. For those unfamiliar with the backstory, I previously recounted an experience involving a mysterious 1-star review on my Google Business Profile (GBP) from an unknown individual. If you’re interested in the first part of this story, you can find my earlier post here.
To summarize briefly: I received an unsolicited negative review that hit hard, especially as it was my very first. This came at a critical time in my business journey. Upon responding to the reviewer, I invited them to get in touch for clarification, but my invitation went unanswered. Luckily, and after some time navigating Google’s review processes, the rating was removed.
However, mere weeks later, this same reviewer resurfaced with yet another 1-star critique—this time, they lamented the removal of their first review, accusing me of running a questionable business. Once again, I politely responded, reiterating that their comments were baseless and kindly offered an open line of communication to resolve any misunderstandings.
Today, I finally received an email from this individual, and to say it was shocking would be an understatement. What followed was a barrage of personal attacks—complete with references to my previous job history and even mentions of my hometown—that left me bewildered. I still can’t wrap my head around their identity, leading me to believe they are hiding behind a pseudonym.
Honestly, I was taken aback; I oscillated between disbelief and laughter as I processed the contents of the email. It’s not every day that you encounter such bizarre hostility from strangers, especially when you’re just trying to offer a service you’re passionate about.
Have any of you experienced similarly eccentric interactions in your business journey? I would love to hear your stories of unexpected challenges and how you’ve navigated them!
