Embracing Change: The Art of Returning to the Drawing Board
Hello Readers,
Today, I wish to share some insights with industry peers who may find themselves navigating a challenging period. By reflecting on my own experiences, I hope to offer encouragement and perhaps gain a bit of solace amidst this tumultuous journey.
My Journey Begins
At 24 years old, I recognize that I am still relatively young within the professional sphere. My passion for the industry can be traced back to my grandparents, who were heavily immersed in organizing large-scale entertainment events. Watching their endeavors inspired me immensely.
2020: The Inception
At the age of 19, I ventured into business, harnessing the skills I began honing as a teenager. My early years were filled with learning opportunities, from accepting payments via cash apps to managing schedules by memory. With limited engagements, these methods sufficed, but they served as stepping stones to more structured processes.
2022: Gaining Traction
In 2022, my approach matured. I implemented a formal payment system, designed a website, printed business cards, and embarked on extensive networking. Achieving $5,000 in revenue was a significant milestone, demonstrating that my efforts were indeed fruitful. This year also welcomed the birth of my daughter, driving me to excel even further.
2023: A Shift in Momentum
Unexpectedly, my business gained momentum in 2023. Incoming work inquiries increased, largely fueled by powerful word-of-mouth referrals, leading to $16,000 in revenue. The growth was palpable and exhilarating.
Early 2024: Expanding Horizons
Buoyed by growing demand, I took a bold step in 2024, enlisting help to manage multiple bookings simultaneously. This decision marked a pivotal moment as I onboarded skilled independent contractors to uphold the integrity of our services.
Mid 2024: Challenges Arise
However, managing a team came with unforeseen challenges. The difficulty in maintaining deadlines and quality of service highlighted the impact of negative influences within the team. It underscored a crucial lesson: one adverse factor can disrupt an organization’s cultural fabric.
Late 2024: A Necessary Pause
Facing the turbulent dynamics, I made the difficult decision to pause operations to realign and regain control over the cherished business that had finally achieved the $100,000 revenue benchmark. Adding complexity was the joyful news of expecting a second child.
