The Dilemma of Expanding a Contracting Business: Navigating Growth and Coaching

As a thriving sole proprietor of a contracting business, I’ve reached a pivotal moment where further growth necessitates transforming from a hands-on operator to a dedicated business owner. This transformation involves contemplating the expansion of my team, securing office space, and transitioning from working within the business to steering its success.

In my quest for guidance, I’ve encountered numerous business coaches, each promising a unique formula for scaling up. However, skepticism arises when considering the significant financial commitment they require. Investing over $1,000 a month in coaching services, particularly from those unfamiliar with my local market, seems counterintuitive. The same funds could potentially be allocated towards operational expenses, employee salaries, and other growth initiatives.

Currently, my business specializes in remodeling and new construction. Last year, we exceeded $1 million in sales while maintaining a 28% net profit margin due to minimal overhead costs. This success indicates potential, yet I find myself at a crossroads regarding how to propel the business to new heights.

I’m reaching out to those who have engaged with business coaches in their entrepreneurial journey. I am eager to learn about your experiences, the tangible results achieved, and any other tools, systems, or resources that facilitated growth. Your insights could provide invaluable assistance as I navigate this exciting, albeit challenging, phase of scaling my business.
