Navigating Partner Support: Encouraging Spousal Collaboration on a Passion Project
Balancing a full-time office job with a burgeoning side venture can be an immense challenge, especially when that side project demands a skill set outside your spouse’s expertise. My current undertaking involves developing a tech product, a commitment that’s proving tough to juggle alongside my day job.
Given this scenario, I’ve been contemplating the idea of inviting my wife to collaborate on this venture, transforming it into a joint endeavor. However, her present obligations are considerable. She’s employed full-time, albeit in a work-from-home capacity, and together we care for two young children under the age of four. Understandably, she’s hesitant about diving into ‘our business’ after clocking out from her professional duties.
I’m seeking advice from those who have navigated similar situations. How have others successfully enlisted their spouse’s support and involvement in a project while respecting their commitments and expertise limitations?
