Seeking Advice on Employee Benefits Conversations

Hello everyone!

I manage a small business with four employees, and discussions around employee benefits come up pretty regularly.

As a remote company, I prioritize flexibility in our work arrangements. I allow staff to handle personal matters like school runs, doctor’s appointments, and assemblies without stressing about making up the time, trusting that they’ll compensate for it naturally rather than extending their hours that day.

Currently, we offer private healthcare after one year of employment and a performance-related bonus of up to 10%. However, my team has expressed interest in a few additional benefits, including:
– Time off for birthdays (in addition to their 28 days of annual leave plus bank holidays)
– Wellbeing days, where they can take a day off on short notice if they’re not feeling well
– A stipend for wellness activities such as gym memberships
– A work-from-home allowance

I’m hesitant to introduce certain financial commitments, as I worry about the impact on our budget, especially if we expand to 10 employees or more in the future.
