Does anyone else feel like they’re constantly being taken advantage of?
I never thought of myself as naive or impulsive. I always made sure to hire people based on recommendations or thorough research. Yet, no matter how careful I was, it seems I’ve been let down by nearly everyone I’ve worked with.
Take the SEO.html" target="_blank">SEO expert, for example. They ended up using shady links, made false promises about advertising, and modified pages against what they assured me wouldn’t happen.
Then there’s the website design—poor quality work, constant delays, lost orders, and unexpected costs. I actually had to redo it all twice.
As for PR, they advised me to give away my expensive product to influencers who just took it and never even mentioned it on social media.
And the graphic designer? They posted images on their platforms that I never approved, made mistakes, and refused to fix them.
I can’t handle all these tasks myself, but every time I bring in help, I end up feeling cheated, delayed, and out of pocket.
Just trying to figure out if this is a common experience or if it’s just happening to me.

I totally get where you’re coming from. It can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to put your trust in professionals who ultimately don’t deliver. You’re definitely not alone in feeling this way—many people have had similar experiences in hiring various service providers.
Sometimes it helps to have a contract in place that clearly outlines expectations and deliverables. Gathering reviews and feedback from multiple sources can also be beneficial. If something doesn’t feel right during the hiring process, don’t hesitate to trust your instincts and keep looking.
It’s a tough learning curve, but each experience can provide valuable lessons about what to look for and what to avoid. You might also consider starting with smaller projects or trial periods when working with new hires, to gauge their performance before committing to larger work. Hang in there—building a reliable team takes time, but it’s worth it in the long run!
