When reaching out to companies for business-related inquiries, data privacy is a crucial concern. Recently, I contacted Gusto and ADP requesting quotes for a business I am involved with. Within an hour of submitting my requests, I began receiving suspicious text messages regarding EZ Pass Tolls. This immediately raised red flags, as I have not been driving in a few years, and traditionally, any toll notices are mailed, not texted.
This strange occurrence led me to question if either Gusto or ADP might have shared my contact information with third parties, or whether this was just an unfortunate coincidence. As both companies required a phone number as part of their quote requests, pinpointing the source of the potential data breach proved challenging.
