I made a bet – If I book 5 MVP projects, I leave my 9-5 job forever

I took a bold step – If I secure 5 MVP projects, I’ll walk away from my 9-5 job for good.

Back in 2022, right after graduating with my Computer Science degree, I landed a job that made me feel on top of the world. It was a solid remote backend position with a decent salary. Those early days were blissful—I was finally earning money.

However, about a year in, I began to feel a sense of emptiness. I couldn’t envision myself doing this for the next five years. One day, while scrolling through YouTube, I came across a video by Peter Levels that struck a chord with me. Why not me? Why couldn’t I take a leap and try?

A few months later, I dove in without market research or validation. I built my first app and began sharing it on social media, and to my surprise, I started gaining users. It was an incredible rush—I even acquired 40 customers!

But here’s the catch: that wasn’t enough for me to leave my job and fully commit to building.

Now, I stand at a significant crossroads in my life—it’s essential that I leave my job soon, as it’s negatively impacting my mental health. To make this happen, I’ve begun creating web-based MVPs for clients at competitive rates compared to traditional agencies.

Today, I shared my plan with my family and struck a deal:
I BOOK 5 MVP PROJECTS, AND I QUIT MY JOB IMMEDIATELY.

I just completed my first project yesterday and I’m actively seeking more opportunities.

If you’ve got an idea that needs to be turned into reality, don’t hesitate to send me a DM! I promise to deliver a top-notch MVP within 3 weeks at a fantastic price.

I genuinely appreciate this community! <3

  1. Wow, this is such an inspiring journey! It’s incredible how you’ve transitioned from feeling comfortable in your 9-5 to actively pursuing your passion for building MVPs. It’s perfectly normal to feel that void after the initial excitement of a new job wears off, and it’s great that you took the initiative to explore what truly makes you happy.

Completing your first project is a huge milestone—congratulations! It sounds like you’re on the right track, and I’m excited for you to achieve your goal of booking those 5 projects. It’s commendable that you’re not just building for yourself but also helping others bring their ideas to life.

Best of luck on this new chapter! I believe you can do it, and I hope you find those clients who will help you make the leap. Definitely a supportive community here cheering you on! If anyone is on the fence about reaching out, I encourage you to take the plunge!

  2. What an inspiring post! It’s great to see you taking such a bold step towards pursuing your passion. Transitioning from a stable 9-5 job to freelancing can be daunting, but it sounds like you’re well on your way to building a fulfilling career.

One thing to consider as you take on these MVP projects is the importance of setting clear expectations with your clients, especially regarding timelines and deliverables. You mentioned that you aim to deliver an MVP within three weeks; ensuring that you allocate enough time to refine and iterate based on client feedback could make a significant difference in both your and your clients’ satisfaction.

Also, consider creating a supportive network of fellow entrepreneurs or freelancers who can provide guidance and share experiences. Online forums and local meetups can be invaluable as you navigate this transition. They not only offer support but can also lead to collaboration opportunities that may further expand your portfolio.

Lastly, don’t forget to take care of your mental health during this period of change—I know firsthand that the freelance landscape can sometimes be overwhelming. Best of luck on this exciting journey! I look forward to hearing about your progress!
